8KOunt will be competing in the Battle for X-Fest on June 23 at the Foundry Nightclub in Dayton, OH.
X-Fest is a major opportunity for the band to play in front of 20,000 crazy rock fans with top selling bands from around the world.
8KOunt would like to thank the fans for voting for us and appreciate your continued support in the play-off round on June 23!!! |

Hey 8KOunt fans and friends- we need YOUR help!! We have a great opportunity to play in front of 20,000 crazy rock fans (like yourself?) at X-Fest this year.
In order to do that, the first step is to get a little help from our friends. Log onto:

You're able to vote once a day, so vote for 8KOunt and be sure to come back tomorrow. Ballot stuffers votes (more than 1 per username) will not be counted.
You'll have until Sunday May 20th @ Midnight to cast your votes. They'll tally the votes and announce which bands will move on to the live club round at the Foundry Saturday June 9th, 16th, 23rd, with the Finals on Saturday June 30th, and from there it's on to X-Fest 2007!

ROCKING ON |

The boys in 8KOunt are bringing a new look, feel and swagger to their big rock sound. On guitar, the band now has a double threat with fireplug JT and teen sensation Nick Tirey. On bass, Robby D'Lor is bringing the concrete to the low-end foundation. On drums, Cincinnati legend Todd Charles thunders away. Sugar remains the voice. Together they bring the new sound of big rock.
All the guys in 8KOunt thank you for your love and support. We will be posting more here and on 8kount.com in the coming days and weeks to let each of you get to know the guys a little more.

Getting Ready to Rock |

The guys in 8KOunt are in rehearsal for the new show and getting to ready to rock the BIG ROCK in a big way!!
"I'm very excited to get going," enthused frontman Sugar James. "With all that's happened in the last couple months, it's good to get rocking again. The new show is going to be completely slammin!"

A note to 8KOunt fans from Cookie. . . |

After a great deal of thought, prayer, and consideration – I have decided not to return to 8KOunt. This is not a decision based on musical differences as most of these things go, but a decision of personal reflection.
Based on the happenings in my personal life, I cannot devote the time and effort required for 8KOunt, or music in general. It would not be fair to Jim, the monstrosity of 8KOunt, and most of all – you, the fans.
These past few years in 8KOunt have been some of the best in my life. Never have I worked with a better group of guys from start to finish. Never have I accomplished so much and been so proud of what I’ve done. I fulfilled many dreams – opening up for national acts, recording a bad ass CD with bad ass people, and making and meeting new fans all over the country, and some around the world.
As for the future, I plan to continue with music . . . at some point. In the few minutes of spare time I have these days, I’m writing lyrics and music and recording pieces and parts. I think when the dust settles and I can devote time to music, I think I will have something very cool and a bit different to offer fans. At least that’s the hope.

Moving Forward |

Cookie and I want to thank everybody for their show of support following the departure of our rhythm section. Losing members in a band like this is almost like losing family in a certain sense, so all the sentiments are greatly appreciated. We are touched.
Right now we are looking at the best way to proceed. I know the fans want to see and hear the band playing at full strength again. I do too. However, we also want to take a moment to breathe and make sure we make the right move going forward. We appreciate everyone's understanding and look forward to rocking with all of you again soon.

Saying Goodbye |

We regret to have to pass on to all our fans and friends that 8 KOunt drummer Sean Davidson and bass player Dean Alexander are leaving 8 KOunt effective immediately. Both former members are moving to Los Angeles within the week to pursue another career direction.
Sean has been with the band for over three years and has recorded and played live with the band during that time. While Dean only joined the band in August, both will be missed a great deal. Each will have a parting statement on this site within the coming days.
Cookie and I remain friends with Sean and Dean and wish them the best in their lives and careers. God Bless guys, it's been good!
